Our Meeting was called to order by President Mike McKay Announcements: Rtn. LaDonna Wicklund, Chair of Literacy Committee announced that she will be attending the Toronto Convention. Please contact LaDonna if you would be interested in helping during the convention. Rtn. Assata Caldwell announced that the Greeter Committee is looking for 1 more greeter coordinator. Please see Assata with questions. Rtn. Brad Baldes announced the Fore the House Golf was a success! Rtn. Ben Snyder announced the Rotary Bike Ride was successful despite some wind. 30+ participated. Rtn. Jon Brown announced an upcoming opportunity to help keep Iowa beautiful with a clean-up project. Please see Jon with questions. Rtn. Tom Cilek, Program Chair announced the upcoming programs and welcomes your program ideas for the upcoming Rotary year. PROGRAM: Rtn. Dick Ferguson introduced the program speaker, Nick Starcevich, Kirkwood Community College President. Nick attributes the strong board of trustees and excellent staff who work within great facilities to successfully serve 7 counties. Nick reviewed the recent facility projects and updates to the campus; the recreation center and auto technology. Students who go onto a 4 year college after leaving Kirkwood, will move on to all 50 states. Nick introduced the Vice President of Advancement, Greg Neumeyer and welcomes the incoming Kirkwood President, Lori Sundberg. As Nick concludes 10 years as the Kirkwood President he is proud of the high graduation rate, retention rates and success in the classroom. After audience questions President McKay thanked Ted for his educational presentation. The meeting ended at 1:00 pm as President Mike led the assembly in reciting The Four Way Test. |
