PROGRAM:
Rtn. Jerry Fleagal introduced Charlie Becker from Camp Courageous presenting Camp Courageous Update and Recent Ukraine Visit.

Ukraine: Four weeks ago Charlie and his son flew to the Ukraine via Poland to deliver medical equipment. Had made arrangements to serve in the largest medical hospital in Ukraine. They delivered hundreds of pounds of food for the front lines.

The Polish people are an incredible group who have opened their arms and homes to take in Ukrainian refugees. From their Polish hosts house, they drove into Lviv, Ukraine.  On entering the country they noticed that while millions of people passed that way escaping the warzone, not one piece of trash could be seen.

When they arrived at the Military hospital, it was in mandatory lock down and they could not enter. From there they went to the nearest public hospital. Without the needed paperwork, they were offered to be sent to Kiev, which they declined.

Watch the video for the full story – it is fascinating!

Camp Courageous: Camp not only brings kids out for camp activities, but gives people the opportunity to connect with others who have the same diagnosis as themselves. Programs include nation wide trips as well as the camp in Monticello Iowa.

They installed solar power, reducing electric bills by 90%. They instilled a new zipline.

This is done without government assistance and no paid fundraising staff.

Join them at A Pop-Up Singing Nook: Cartha-Rotary Musical Program and tour of Camp Courageous at 11 am on June 11. Rotary Music Park opened last year and is in constant use. This is the first activity of its kind.

Camp Courageous offers student internships over the summer that provide training and certification for students.
