The Rotary Moment of Gratitude and Positivity was delivered by Rtn. John Kenyon.  Thinking over the past 12 months, he highlighted some of the experiences he has been most grateful for.  He’s healthier than he’s been in years – exercising and eating better.  His children are reaching middle school age and they’ve been forced to spend time with their parents.  He hopes their bond remains strong as they continue to grow up.  His neighbors are looking out for each other more.  John believes that community and society has in many ways changed for the better.

New Member Induction: Brent Carstensen

PROGRAM:
Rtn. Devin van Holsteijn (and Eloise and Chloe) introduced our speakers, Paula Duven and Kate Thompson. Devin’s friend and band-mate greatly benefited from the services he received at On With Life, which helped him recover his neurological function after a severe illness.

On With Life started in the late 1980s by families who had members with brain injuries.  The organization lives  their mission of putting people first.  They treat brain injury, stroke, concussion, Parkinson’s, and complex neurological diagnoses.  They provide a continuum of inpatient rehabilitation, long-term skilled care, home and community based, independent living, and outpatient therapy services.  An outpatient clinic was opened in Coralville in 2020.

On With Life has a transdisciplinary approach that combines all the appropriate therapies to achieve the best positive outcomes.  The organization has also engaged with the local community in Coralville through activities including an open house, virtual fitness classes, free educational seminars, and a helmet drive.  You can learn more at: www.onwithlife.org.
