Iowa City Noon Rotary

Our Meeting was called to order by President Barb Thomas.
President Barb Thomas asked for a moment of silence to reflect on our loved ones that have been lost over the past year.
The Rotary Moment of Gratitude and Positivity was delivered by Rtn. David Bywater.  He said that 2020 was not a complete bust.  He is grateful for healthcare workers, essential workers – all of those that allowed us to continue and find a way.  So many rose to the occasion.  He is thankful for Rotary leadership and successfully adjusting to a new way of conducting our meetings.  David toasted to 2020 and the lessons we learned about hope, peace, and faith, and that we are all essential.  We had to slow down and appreciate our family and work family.  Happy New Year in 2021!
Rounds of 2 Truths and a Lie were played.  We learned that Rtn. Anna Moyers Stone is not an only child, but she has been to Paraguay and won a pie baking contest with her apple pie.  President-Elect Eric Weiler was not on the set of Field of Dreams, but he was on USA Today in 1989 as a boy scout with President George H.W. Bush and he also worked for a semi-professional basketball team.  President Barb Thomas never played a nun, but did play a ghost and a poodle during her acting career.
Rtn.  Aaron Schaefer regaled the Club by performing “Here Comes the Sun” and “SMILE!”
Rtn. Ryan Bell was on location at Big Grove Brewery with Bartender Zach, who shared how to make the drink “Weekend at Eddy’s”.  Ingredients include: award-winning Easy Eddy IPA, rum, triple sec, lime juice, orange bitters, pineapple juice.
The meeting ended at 1 PM as President Barb Thomas led the assembly in reciting The Four Way Test.
