PROGRAM:
President Steve Quigley introduced today’s speaker, Jayne Armstrong, District Director of the Small Business Administration.

Armstrong is a Pittsburgh native and has been a Rotarian for 30 years. In her role with the Small Business Administration (SBA), she covers all 99 counties and she said her connection to Rotary has helped her immensely. Ours is the 40th Rotary club she’s presented to.

Armstrong shared SBA success stories, including Casey’s, Nike, Apple, and Hewlett Packard; and shared with the club the resources the SBA provides. The SBA is a federal agency and provides resources to small businesses.

These resources include capital, counseling, contracting, advocacy, innovation, and the small business disaster program. The SBA’s current priorities are growing its visibility, helping more women, veteran, and minority-owned businesses; working in rural areas, and increasing awareness of its programs and services. Armstrong is hoping to help build new relationships and collaborations, concentrating on low-penetration markets, and focusing on results-oriented marketing.

You can learn more about the Small Business Administration by visiting their website: sba.gov; or contacting her at 515-284-4026 or jayne.armstrong@sba.gov
