PROGRAM: COVID-19 Preparation in Service Industries

Rtn. Ryan Bell introduced Rtn. Shawn Hedlund, Dentist & Bobby Thompson, co-owner of Thompson Co. and Table.

Shawn shared how they have pivoted their practice during Covid-19. They were shut down for 8 weeks back in March but they had good PPE to be able to start back up right way. The biggest change was how the patients enter. The office calls the patients ahead of time to ensure they were healthy. When the patient arrives, they wait in their car until the appointment time. Once the client comes into the building, temperatures are checked, hands sanitized and taken directly to their chair.

Bobby shared the salon shut down a week before everything shut down and went to work on determining best practices so that they could open again. They consulted with friends from local hospitals about their operating procedures and implemented new procedures very quickly. They did this through the screening process, checking temperatures, making masks mandatory and a place to sign off you don’t have symptoms. They invested money into gloves, masks, shields, hand sanitizer stations. They put in an air filtration system; stylists have noticed a big difference! He shared how they have made changes at the restaurant, Table, as well.

The meeting ended at 1:03 PM as President Barb Thomas led the assembly in reciting The Four Way Test.
