Watch today's meeting here: https://youtu.be/Z9IGzuy48iU

Our Meeting was called to order by President Barb Thomas.

Announcements:
President Barb Thomas announced that the Rotary Club of Madras, India sent an email to our club wishing us a good year.  She also received an update from Rotary International about the Polio eradication efforts.  Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the number of Polio cases.  In 2020, there have been 5 cases in Pakistan and 22 in Afganistan.  Please continue to support Rotary’s Polio efforts.

Rtn. Dave Brown announced that he is chairing the Environmental Concerns Committee.  They are looking for committee members.  This year, the Rotary Foundation announced that supporting the environment is a new area of focus.

Rtn. Lynette Marshall gave the Rotary Moment of Gratitude and Positivity.  Lynette appreciates that Rotary has always been there throughout all stages of her life and career.  She cherishes our Club’s commitment to the community and international projects.  This year, she was asked to join the Rotary Foundation Fund Development Committee, with members from all over the world.  Lynette is proud of our Club’s support of the Rotary Foundation.

President Barb Thomas shared a Paul Harris quote that is fitting for this year, “[i]f Rotary is to realize its proper destiny, it must be evolutionary and at times, revolutionally.  Our Club is trying to guage members’ willingness to return to in-person meetings, with electronic meetings still being available.  Please complete the survey by tomorrow.  Will be soon holding a brainstorming session for new member recruitment and engagement.  Barb is also trying to recruit committee chairs.  Please reach out to Barb for assistance in determing which committee would be a good fit.  The Club will also be focusing on PR – please like our Club’s Facebook page and share our posts.  We will soon begin upporting our community through a COVID relief project – details coming soon.

Induction of New Member: Alissa Brandt Jarret (sponsored by Rtn. Ryan Bell).

PROGRAM:
Rtn. Kelly Stobb introduced today’s speaker.  Anant Kamath has over 30 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and is founder and CEO of Exogene Bio.  Anant gave a fascinating talk on the Early Detection of Human and Viral Biomarkers: implications for disease diagnosis and treatment. Early detection and diagnosis of illnesses is key to positive health outcomes.  Liquid biopsies of blood, urine, and saliva can detect diseases like cancer before a patient is sympamatic at a fraction of the cost of conventional medical testing.  Learn more in the video or contact Anant at anant.kamath@exogenebio.com.

The meeting ended at 1:00 PM as President Barb Thomas led the assembly in reciting The Four Way Test.
