Our Meeting was called to order by President Barb Thomas.
 
Announcements:
Visiting Rtn. Deb Dunkhase announced Openheartland, a new nonprofit focused on providing support to the immigrant population in our community that has been hit hard by Covid-19. They have helped 60 individuals with rent, distributed 1,200 bags of food, 200 bags of hygienic products and this week, thanks to Hills Bank, donated 2,200 ears of sweet corn. They are having back to school event this week, helping 170 kids this year. You can help by send a check (made payable to Openheartland) to: 7 Wellesley Way, Iowa City, IA 52245 or by Venmo at @open-heartland.
 
Rtn. Gary Pacha, announced our Rotary Club's participation in the Food Fight (a challenge between us and area Rotary Clubs), This friendly competition has been extended through August and the winning team gets temporary ownership of the "golden turkey." To support CommUnity (formerly the Crisis Center) you can do so online at: https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/IOWACITYROTARY/team/Noon or by sending a check (make sure that you write Iowa City Noon Rotary on the memo line) and send to them with this donation form
 
Rtn. Eric Weiler announced our partnership with Community Foundation of Johnson County to support their community recovery and non-profit support grant program. Our giving is focused on helping human and health service nonprofits so we can meet the basic needs of people. Our Rotary Board has voted to donate $30,000 to the Foundation.
 
Rotary Moment of Gratitude and Positivity was led by Greg Abbey. He shared that during his ride at Ragbrai last year, he had a heart attack. Two local EMTs from the Johnson Grimes Fire Department, brothers Ty and Ryan, happened to be riding behind him. After they performed 18 minutes of CPR, Officer Robert Conrad arrived at the scene with an ADE unit provided by our Iowa City Rotary Club. 
 
PROGRAM:
Our program featured David Hensley from the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) on the University of Iowa’s entrepreneurial offerings and Neil Quellhorst from Protostudios on the company's fascinating work with 3D printing from face shields to human organs!
 
President Barb Thomas led us in the 4-way test and concluded the meeting.
