Rotary Minutes 10.10.24
P. Tara L. called the meeting to order at 1210 pm. Anna Moyers-Stone, accompanied by Devyn VanH, led us in singing her original composition, “The Frown Song”.
PRESIDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Two recent Board changes: Jon Kenyon replaces Trisha Smith, and Ron Ettinger replaces Heather Croskrey.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Barb Thomas called on interested members to stand for election to the Board. Qualified candidates will have been a member for >= one year, and if elected will serve for 3 years. Interested? Submit a brief bio to Barb including history with Rotary and explaining why you wish to serve.
Anna Moyers-Stone is selling tickets to the annual Joint Service Club Luncheon set for November. See her to purchase or for additional info.
PROGRAM:
The scheduled program was replaced by information filled updates on the following:
- Jim Merchant and Bill Bywater provided status on the Kerber HeartSafe initiative. This vital program benefits from broad and generous support from individuals and area businesses and other institutions in our community. To date, contributions total $228k. Openings on this committee exist—please contact either Bill or Jim.
- “State of the Club” by P. Lawson: Subtitled “Behind the Magic”, opened with an overview of RI’s seven focus areas: disease prevention, water and sanitation, maternal health, basic education, community economic development, environment and peace. Important club facts: 193 members, targeting an additional 33; 11 member Board; 13 administrative support committees, with 8 active service project committees; ninety percent of the budget is from dues; the largest expense category is annual admin expenses, which includes dues ($24k; RI and District, combined), and the single largest expense item—meeting space, of $20k.
The meeting ended with the recitation of The Four Way Test.
