Iowa City Noon Rotary

The Iowa City Noon Rotary Club welcomes opportunities to support new and innovative programs and/or sustain current or ongoing programs that impact the quality of life in the Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty area. Projects should be consistent with the principles of Rotary (www.Rotary.org). Projects must be Rotary member-affiliated and include Rotarian involvement. Applications for funding to support fundraising events and operating expenses are not encouraged. The Iowa City Noon Rotary will consider applications of requests up to $500. 

Qualifications:

  1. Be a non-profit organization with a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status, or an organization engaged in charitable works with a not-for-profit fiscal sponsor (such as a sponsoring organization), or an individual participating in a project or activity that has a not-for-profit fiscal sponsor.
  2. Be seeking support in at least one of the following:
    • Education and Literacy
    • Health and Well Being
    • Environment
    • Arts and Culture
    • Economic and community development.

Application Requirements

  • A proposal narrative of no more than 2 pages in letter or email format
  • A budget for the project/activity needing funding
  • Measurable outcomes* (how you will know the project/activity is successful, has the desired impact, etc.)
  • A list of the individuals responsible for the project including the Board of Directors (if appropriate) and/or staff/individuals responsible for the project/activity
  • Number/type of volunteer opportunities for Rotarians
  • Recognition opportunities for Rotary within the community
  • A statement indicating how funding from Rotary will positively impact the project/activity
  • Signed Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement for non-501 (c) (3) organizations or individual(s) if applicable

Reporting Requirements

All grant recipients should submit a written report to the Club’s Board of Directors following the completion of the project/activity. Reports should include:
  • An assessment of whether or not the project/activity goals were achieved and what impact Rotary funds had on the success of the project/activity.
  • An expense report detailing how Rotary funds were used
  • Copies of any promotional materials or media coverage of the project
  • A photo of the project activity for use in the club newsletter, website and social media
This information can be shared in the form of a letter, an email or a personal presentation to the club.

Past and Current Projects Supported by the Iowa City Noon Rotary

The Iowa City Noon Rotary Club was established in 1915 to bring the ideals of Rotary International to our community. Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self” is evident in the many ways the Iowa City Noon Rotary is involved in international, national and local efforts to improve health and wellness, education and literacy, and the lives of others through numerous projects, many of which are in partnership with other Rotary clubs in District 6000. Notable financial support has included but is not exclusive to:
  • IC Noon Rotary’s 100th Anniversary Raffle – raised nearly $50,000 in support of the Iowa City Public Library, the Coralville Public Library, the North Liberty Public Library as well as other community projects
  • Healthy Kids Initiative – support for access to medical and dental care for area children
  • Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of Eastern Iowa
  • I Can Read - early literacy project with Sing-a-Long books, CDs and DVDs gifted to local schools
  • 4th Grade Dictionary Project - dictionaries are distributed to every fourth grade student in the ICCSD each year
  • Ronald McDonald House Golf Tournament – fundraising to strengthen services provided by a local charity
  • Rotary Scholarships - for inbound and outbound high school and college students who travel to our local community to attend school for a year and live with host families, or travel abroad to attend school for a year
  • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - scholarships to the RYLA youth leadership conference
  • Scholarship and travel expenses – for local students participating in activities such as Special Olympics, MYEP FasTrac, We the People, etc.
